Bag your place on the starting grid now

The Start – 2nd May 2010

Armed with paracetamol and nursing hangovers from the pre-trip party, teams will convene in London on the morning of the 2nd ready to journey across Europe and Africa, to meet up again, should luck and providence dictate, at the finishing line in Cape Town.

No doubt there will be a bit of a crowd gathered, so after much hullabaloo from the media, with journalists converging on the event to check on the sanity of teams foolish enough to enter, you will finally be free to undo the shackles of ‘normal life’ and wave goodbye to friends and family as the rally pulls off and rolls out of London (hopefully all the cars will make it out of London)

The in between bit

What happens between London and Cape Town is up to you. Prizes will however be awarded for the most ridiculous routes taken. See the route page for further information.

Decide your route, get yourself out into the world and into as much shit as possible, then use all your cunning, craft and ability to blag to find a way out. Adventure is out there, it’s up to you to find it. Just try to remember to write home when the chance arrives so your poor mum knows you are still alive and well and your mates realise they’re losing the bets they made.

The Finish

The finish is Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront (providing of course you make it this far) teams who do will be arriving at different times so it is going to be impossible to get all the teams together at the finish. Once most of the teams are back we will be throwing a lavish finishing party where there will be ridiculous amounts of back slapping and chest thumping. There will also be some smaller shindigs arranged for teams arriving early as well as any late arrivals.

Depending on how long you take, you may be arriving sometime around the start of the 2010 World Cup (mid June) so expect Cape Town to be buzzing. Again, don’t be surprised if some of you attract a bit of attention as the world’s media marvel at how a bunch of crazies drove all the way across Africa in old bangers and gate crashed the World Cup party.

One final note, not everybody will make the whole way to Cape Town. Should en-route your car fall apart, then tape it back together, should it completely give up on you then try and grab a lift from other cars, we can’t and don’t guarantee your arrival or even your safety but then you’re supposed to be on an adventure.

If the thought of this worries you, stay at home.
